I don't know if it's just because I know some of the personalities involved in this discussion, but these comments, on Jean Snow's blog, are really fun to read, almost a piece of art in themselves.

hey rodds, just listened to our first internet collaboration and it reminds me of the SF fog in the picture below.

It's harmonica fog, rolling around your ears and I really like it. It's certainly not "an act of violence against an audience".

Speaking of that quote, maybe we should make Yuji Takahashi our guiding light in this collaboration. I think i'm his only fan on friendster. We should help spread the word.

The clicks are not really a problem although they in some ways draw the ear away from what is happening and I don't think that was desired. Although it does add that hifi/midfi which has it's own beauty. In some ways I need to get less obsessive about unintended clicks.

Could we add some similar low volume clicks that make the accidental clicks seem intended, like some reverberated dust. I could do this. Dust also has a foggy beauty.

The first big motif change does crash in a little, is that the speedy second burst of fog?

Was the ending the act of violence we might be trying to avoid?

smsctr - maybe you can put this first reply up on our WIKI to continue our correspondence in the right place.

Anyone else can check it out @....

that would be fucking hilarious, he's just in my list of favourite music.

yeah, i'm actually trying to track him down for an interview these days...so if anyone out there has him email address (i had it once, but i don't have it any more)...

I'm so accepting of clicks these days. If you have to make a comparison to traditional music, I'd say it's a bit like the squeak of the sustain pedal on the piano. Or Glenn Gould humming as he plays Bach.

Anyway, would be nice to add some Dust clicks to the mix, should I send you the ProTools session or an AIFF file? I'll make another mix also, it sounds so different to me when I listen to it this morning.

Try sending me the pro tools session, no idea if I can open it in PT6. I would be really interested to see the session. Where can you send it too though. Maybe dropload is best.

i'm replying to your email now.....

the WIKI sounds a bit like the weblog version. I like the idea that others can drop in on our music and leave comments, even influence compositions. Whichever, they both sound fun!

Is your whole site built with Movable Type? I might try to build my own. Then I will really be entering the 21st Century.

Posted by: seamus | August 14, 2004 9:47 AM

Actually, I just started building a movable type page for us... I'll send you the link by email. My whole site is not movable type, just the blog section, but I want to get the whole thing running on it someday. I'm not a website designer at all, so it takes me forever to do these things.
